		<description>Hey Gregory,

This is a great question! If you are interested in magazine writing, I encourage you to take the newspaper internship. They are both in the journalism world and often you need to start with experience before you can land certain internships. Each internship will be a building block to the next. You will have a much better chance of landing the Magazine internship for Spring if you participate in the newspaper internship this Fall.

As far as credit goes, I was able to get school credit for only 2 of my internships. I was able to get “transcript recognition” for my internships which meant that they showed up on my records but didn’t give me actual credit, and that was enough for the employers. I suggest speaking with your career center about what you can do to get some sort of recognition. With unpaid internships, the employer just wants to make sure that the student gets a beneficial experience and they aren’t working for free and getting nothing in return.

Good luck!

Best,
Lauren Berger
