I enjoy my current job a lot but I have to say, working for an online dating website was an interesting job. I managed a customer service center and we would get some of the most hilarious and off the wall phone calls and inquiries from members about their experiences with online dating. It was a great insight into that world, and always kept work very entertaining! I also got to go on vacations with some of the members (we sold travel packages for singles as well) and meeting them in person and witnessing a lot of the encounters and drama was also a lot of fun!

My most interesting job was definitely last summer when I worked on Lake Travis in Austin, TX on a BBQ Boat. Every Saturday and Sunday, my best friend and I would get up early to get the boat and the food ready before we pulled out and anchored in “Devil’s Cove,” which was where all the boats would anchor and tie up together for the day. Once we were out in the cove, we’d get in the little dingy and cruise around to the boats delivering and taking orders. Aside from a few close calls with other boats and almost tipping our own boat over, the job went pretty smoothly and we got paid to work on our tans! Plus, we got lots of free BBQ at the end of the day :)

There’s interesting and then there’s “interesting”… working for a nightclub during the daytime was really “interesting” because it’s such a dysfunctional world! On one hand we had completely normal business deals, meetings and day-to-day routines, but on the other hand we had movie and television filmings (I think they even shot a porno once…), nude photo shoots, naive girls interviewing to be our next cocktail waitress or go-go dancer, cracked out employees, and of course, all the “interesting” folks who came to pick up the IDs and credits cards they were too drunk to remember the night before. I loved every minute of it!

I have a couple of interesting jobs to share. My very first summer job (in my small town in KS) was working in a factory on an assembly line. My job was to make Pediatric Urine Collectors (PUCs). Yep, thats right, I had to wear a lab coat, hair net, and shoe booties before entering my department. That job definitely made me realize that college was in my future. The other job I want to mention was when I sold ‘study guides’ door to door in Texas when I was just 19. I would knock all day, 6 days a week and then have team meetings in a central location on Sundays. It was a 100% commission job and I sold for 12 weeks. Since I made a commitment to myself and my team I wouldn’t let myself quit, as bad as I wanted to. It was a very life changing and growing experience for me. I would never trade that experience for anything, however I can gaurantee I will never do it again. :)

This is a tough one to answer since a couple come to mind, but one of my most interesting jobs was back during the summers of high school and the first couple years in college . I had grown up spending 8 summers as a camper at this sleep away camp in NC and then spent 4 summers as a counselor. Trying to manage a cabin of 10-12yr old girls, 24 hrs a day can be quite “interesting”! I loved the job though because I got to be with kids and get paid to have fun. Activities included horse back riding, rock climbing, rafting, camping, swimming, and much more. The best summer was when the Disney Channel decided to feature my camp on a reality show called “Bug Juice”. I was picked as the counselor of the female cabin and experienced my 15 minutes of fame (and 8 episodes)on TV.(My friends now enjoy watching these tapes and making complete fun of me!)

Since I’ve been an entrepreneur my whole life, the most interesting “job” I’ve had was volunteering while in high school to teach some local senior citzens how to keep active through playing tennis.

Several times a week during the summer I would meet with these great folks at a local park and would have a blast listening to their stories while teaching them how to play. The most touching part for me was having the opportunity to help an older man who was previously a great player but recently had a stroke. His therapist and doctors thought that getting him out on the court again would help fast track his speech and mobility recovery. After 5 weeks we were all so thrilled to see a MAJOR inprovement on all fronts.
