Global warming isn’t like Santa Claus or the tooth fairy. It is a reality taking place. As a species, we have managed to bring about a destructive force that will alter an entire planet, and may eradicate most life on it. We may not presently see irrefutable evidence with the naked eye. However, from what I have learned, this warming is something that begins in small, small increments, and it is cyclical. These small incremental changes serve to accelerate the process even more. We will likely see the extinction of the polar bear in most of our lifetimes. If we haven’t already, we will cross a threshold at which point this process cannot be halted. Compared to us, this is a big planet, and it has endured a great deal due to us. It may take time. We will, however, cross that threshold if we have not already. That is the reality we face, and not some neat little politically correct topic for a blog. I would not work for a company that fails to recognize this reality or the danger this entire planet faces. Such a company would not have the best interest of this planet in mind, and I believe that they would also not have the best interest of their staff/employees in mind either. I would also ask questions in return. Are you, the recruiter asking this question, simply looking for info on how to more effectively recruit people, or are you asking in an effort to do your own part in saving this world? In other words, why do you ask?

Ecofasa turns waste to biodiesel using bacteria

A group of Spanish developers working for a company called Ecofasa just announced a new biofuel made up from trash. This isn't a biodiesel made from used frying oil; instead, it's made from general urban waste which is treated by bacteria. The result of that bacteria? Fatty acids that can be used to produce standard biodiesel. According to the company's CEO, the process is fully biologic, competes with no feedstock and is really sustainable. However, the process doesn't yield that much actual fuel: just one liter of biodiesel from 10 kg of trash. The project is now in a development phase, but Ecofasa said that a commercially viable model could be ready in three to four years.

I agree with Nalie. If a company did not take proper measures to fix something that is harmful to the environment, I would look elsewhere for a job. Regardless of whether you believe in global warming or not, it is good to know what companies are doing to become more green.

I would not want to work for a company that knowingly pollute our environment. We have people who are suffering from health problems such as asthma (i.e. me) It becomes a hassle when a person has to struggle to breath when the air is polluted. I recent went to Xi'an China and the experience is not something i want to repeat. I became sick and during the night i could not sleep due to my constant coughing. I don't want to be part of a company that contributes to the destruction of people's health and our environment.
