If you’re networking with the sole purpose of obtaining favor or “getting” something from someone else, it’s disingenuous and others pick up on that very quickly. On the other hand, if you’re sincere and simply looking to expand your base of contacts – there’s certainly nothing wrong with that and the methods are the same regardless of your position within a company.
